DĢ016, and they can't make a release on Linux. But hey, having tinbox of Quake 3 with a Linux logo on it is a many thing not everyone has. Yes, you can get a boxed version of Windows to your shelve too and you're able to run that on Linux natively with id's binaries or ioQuake3's binaries. Thank god Valve did it eventually ( even thought we probably have Microsoft and Windows Store to thank for that.) Steam solves this distribution problem which is why many old Loki fans were so excited about Steam and begged Valve for years to port Steam to Linux. The Loki however noticed that the distributing games for Linux is a really big challenge and was eventually forced to pull the plug on their operations. They kickstarted stuff like SDL, Loki Setup Tools, etc. They did it before anyone else and essentially proved that Linux is gaming capable and paved the way for Loki who went to prove that it's possible to make a business porting games to Linux. John Carmack and Timothee Besset ) have usually made their own ports of id's games for Linux and for some other platforms and supported them by themselves. Loki ported some of then popular games to Linux. I have already downloaded from ID Software. Then I could just find a cheap Quake 3 Arena Windows CD to purchase and to put on my shelf.
